About Derrek Lee

Possessing a dangerous combination of power and speed, Derrek Lee is widely regarded as one of the game’s most talented first basemen. He has received three Gold Glove Awards for his defense, and has also garnered numerous accolades for his offensive production. In 2005 alone, Derrek won his first Silver Slugger Award (batting champion), the NL batting title and was a finalist for the NL MVP award. Off the field, Derrek has joined Boston Celtic's owner Wyc Grousbeck to stamp out a disease that has impacted both of their families. Project 3000 is a program designed to reach out to the 3,000 Americans afflicted with Lebers Congenital Amaurosis, also known as LCA, to encourage them to undergo state-of-the art genetic testing.
